Remembering Friends

The dart community is a family. These pages honor members we've lost.

Frank “Commish” Wala

Founder & Commissioner of the MFDA · passed April 3, 2020

Frank “Commish” Wala was the founder and commissioner of the MFDA, and he ran the league and tournaments for the better part of four decades. Frank passed away April 3, 2020 and will be greatly missed by many. He was a friend, mentor, and a staple in the dart world for many years. He did his best to provide a great league and tournament experience while sticking with the traditional steel-tip dart format. His influence touched hundreds of great people through his efforts, and he will continue to share his influence through the ongoing efforts we will make to continue his dart legacy.

A memorial celebration was planned with Frank's son, Jeff Wala, working alongside Bub's Irish Pub in Germantown to coordinate the event, with a benefit dart tournament in his honor.

If you have a photo of Frank you'd like added to the site, please email the MFDA and attach the photo.

Jason Hermes

In his father Mike's words · passed January 4, 2021

My son, Jason, was my life. I'm still blessed with my daughter Colleen though. I did a lot of things with Jason and it was always a great time. I can't even begin to express how this feels. He was a tall, good-looking, very intelligent man, 34 years old. He had a pilot's license and was working toward becoming a commercial pilot. He passed on Monday, January 4th.
